There are many challenges, stressors and changes that occurs for youths. Often, these challenges are internal battles that are unseen by observing eyes. It is a period in development where the individual must find a balance within their world and discovering the impact of their experiences upon their identity formation. The DBT technique provides two seeming opposite strategies of acceptance (where experiences, thoughts and behaviours are validated) and change (positive changes to progress and self-regulate).  Most recently DBT has been applied across various age groups from youths to old age. The central idea of behaviourism is that behaviour can be understood through science (observable and measured). This approach considers the organism as the locus of interaction between the environment and the individual. Behavioural therapy focuses on the individual’s history, learning experiences and environment. It investigates all aspects of human behaviour, both public (what can be seen and experienced) and private (processes within the body and mind). Clarity provides a holistic approach to treatment planning where various evidence-based practices are considered and uniquely tailored to the individual. The central theme within Clarity is that treatment is science-based where baseline is established and progression is measured and monitored to ensure a lasting progressive change.

The American Psychological Association (APA) emphasises that evidence-based practice in psychology (EBPP) is the assimilation of the various peer reviewed research and clinical evidence that has explored various areas of patient characteristics, culture and preferences (APA, 2020). APA advises that EBPP enhances effective clinical practices and promotes optimal public health within the field of psychology for all professional practices (APA, 2020). Specifically, there are three major components to evidence based practice which includes: external evidence in the form of research, internal evidence which includes gathering clinical expertise and experience; and lastly, the third major component is patient preferences and values. These major components of evidence-based practices are essential enhancing treatment outcome and quality of life. Within Clarity, we strive to provide evidence-based therapeutic intervention where transparent highlights of risks and benefits are provided to clients prior to treatment commencement.
