Autism Funding Resources for Families

Access OAP – Ontario government-funded program that provides funding for children and youth between the age of 2 to 18 years old with a written recommendation from an Ontario-licensed or Ontariobased authorized health care professional. Services available through the Access OAP stream may include applied behavior analysis (ABA), speech-language pathology, occupational therapy, and others. Families with income less than $250,000 per year are eligible for full program funding. Child Care Fee Subsidy – Ontario government-funded program that provides financial assistance to eligible families who need help paying for child care for their children under 13 years old, including children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Funding is income based.

Disability Tax Credit (DCT) – Some families may be eligible for additional credits on their tax returns to reduce the income tax amount paid. A child must have a severe and prolonged impairment in physical or mental functions in order to be eligible for the DCT. A doctor’s or clinician’s assistance is required for completion of the DCT form. The form may be downloaded from the website.

Special Services at Home (SSAH) – Annual funding allocated for family relief and personal development for children with special needs under the age of 18. There are no income requirements, and the application can be downloaded from the website.

Assistance for Children with Severe Disabilities (ACSD) – A program that provides a monthly allowance to assist parents with some of the additional costs associated with caring for a child under 18 years of age with special needs. There are eligibility requirements such as the family’s income, severity of the disability, etc. Further information can be found on the website. Families can call to request an application.

Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP) – A registered disability savings plan (RDSP) is a savings plan that is intended to help parents and others for the long term financial security of a person who is eligible for the Disability Tax Credit (DTC). Can be applied through financial institution or organizations that manages RDSP.

Canada Disability Savings Grant (CDSG) – Government-funded grant that provides matching funds to families who contribute to a Registered Disability Savings Plan for their child under the age of 18 with a disability, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Must be contribute to a Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP)

Access 2 Card – The Access 2 card allows people with disabilities to receive either free admission or a discount for their support person at selected movie theatres and attractions across Canada. This application must be completed with a medical doctor’s assistance and can be downloaded form the website. There is a processing fee.

TTC Support Person Assistance Card – This card allows fare exemption for a support person accompanying a person with a disability on public transit. The application must be completed with a medical doctor’s assistance.

Accessible Parking Permit – Families and children may be eligible for an accessible parking permit form the City of Toronto or City of Vaughan. Download forms from www.toronto.ca/311

Insurer and Medical Referrals

Third party referrals are welcomed within Clarity. Formal assessment and treatment planning for uniquely tailored therapeutic intervention is provided through a referral process. We have bilingual therapist available on site. Specifically, we have a Vietnamese speaking therapist that uniquely tailor interventions for individuals of all ages.
